Kevin Paul Hofeditz

Kevin Paul Hofeditz, professor of theatre, joined SMU in 1998 as chair of the Division of Theatre. Since then, he has also served the Meadows School as associate dean for student affairs, associate dean for the performing arts, chair of the Division of Dance, senior associate dean for academic affairs, acting chair of the Department of Art History, program director for the minor in musical theatre, director ad interim of the Division of Music and executive senior associate dean for academic affairs. He began his teaching and administrative career in 1983 as an assistant professor of theatre at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. As a professional actor and member of Actors' Equity Association since 1978, he has performed in regional theater, summer stock and off-Broadway. In Dallas, he has acted in productions for WaterTower Theatre's Out of the Loop Fringe Festival, the Festival of Independent Theatres, Shakespeare festival in Dallas and Dallas Theater Center. He earned his Bachelor of Arts with high honors in theatre performance from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and his Master of Fine Arts in acting and directing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He retires as professor and executive associate dean emeritus.
